George Rogers Clark Homesite & Falls of the Ohio Site Master Plan
In 2022, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) selected Landstory Inc. to provide site master planning services for The Falls of the Ohio State Park (FOTO) which included the George Rogers Clark Homesite (GRCH). The State Park is located in the Town of Clarksville, Indiana along the Ohio River.
Landstory, and their team member, JPS Engineering developed the planning /design program and subsequent longer-term site master plan recommendations. There was a particular emphasis on implementation of an initial phase at GRCH to address the cabin which was destroyed by arson in 2020.
The State of Indiana and the Department of Natural Resources identified a variety of site improvements to FOTO and GRCH. Property-wide site master planning had not been undertaken since the construction of the interpretive center; and with the age of the existing facilities/ infrastructure, the evolution of the greenway, and changes in the surrounding land uses, it was time.
The purpose of this master plan was to provide a vision and offer a general set of guidelines for future development and assisted The Department of Natural Resources with determining planned improvements, costs and implementation priorities.
