Meredith Nicholson House

Located in the Old Northside in downtown Indianapolis, this significant historic, Georgian style home currently serves as the headquarters for Indiana Humanities. It’s named for the Meredith Nicholson, a famous American author and diplomat who wrote the novel, House of a Thousand Candles along with several other well-known books.

This project included the preparation of a landscape design and subsequent construction documentation to replace and augment existing plantings. The simple design incorporates a combination of native perennials, ornamental grasses and other low maintenance plant materials inspired by the formal style indicative of Georgian garden design.  Care was taken to maintain a clear view of the home and highlight the illustrious detailing.  New perimeter plantings delineate an outdoor event space in the rear yard.
