Indiana University East

Indiana University East’s renovated central space, The Quadrangle, serves as the heart of campus connecting the existing student buildings. The renovated quadrangle was designed for students and faculty to meet with friends and colleagues. It offers a separate, quiet, outdoor area to study or a space for small group gatherings.

Landstory’s design incorporated a custom steel shade structure, site furnishings, decorative concrete paving, lawn steps, accessible pedestrian access and low maintenance native plantings. Shade trees and accent lighting added character and a sense of scale. Pedestals for public art were placed to maximize views and provide flexibility to change each piece out as necessary. Rain gardens were incorporated for stormwater collection, to reduce the need for an engineered, underground system and provide mitigation.
